Why You Need to Export Trading Records
Exporting your trading records is not an optional "advanced" task — it is something every investor should do:
Calculating P&L: Remembering the buy price and quantity of every trade from memory is unrealistic. Export your records and use a spreadsheet to clearly compute your total investment, total returns, and actual profit/loss ratio.
Tax documentation: Even if your jurisdiction does not currently impose clear crypto taxation policies for individuals, keeping trading records is a good habit. If regulations change in the future, you will need this data to calculate taxable gains.
Strategy review: Reviewing your historical trades helps you identify patterns in your behavior — such as consistently buying at highs or setting stop-losses too tight.
Dispute resolution: In the unlikely event of an account dispute or funds issue, complete trading records are your strongest evidence.
Exporting via the Web Version (Recommended)
The web version offers the most comprehensive export functionality.
Steps
- Open the Binance website in a desktop browser and log in
- Click your profile icon (top right) → "Orders" → "Spot Orders"
- Switch to the "Trade History" tab
- Select a date range (up to one year per export)
- Select a trading pair (choose "All" to export all pairs)
- Click the "Export" button
- Choose the export format (CSV, which can be opened in Excel)
- The file downloads to your computer
Exported Fields
The CSV file typically contains the following columns:
- Trade time
- Trading pair (e.g., BTC/USDT)
- Side (Buy/Sell)
- Fill price
- Fill quantity
- Fill amount
- Fee
- Fee currency
Time Range Limitation
Each export supports a maximum of one year of data. If your trading history spans more than a year, you will need to export in segments.
Viewing Records in the App
The Binance app lets you view trading records, but its export capabilities are limited.
How to View
- App → Trade → "Orders" icon (top right)
- Select "Spot" → "Trade History"
- Filter by date and trading pair
You can see the details of each trade in the app, but for a comprehensive data export, the web version is recommended.
Exporting Other Types of Records
Deposit History
Web → Wallet → Deposit History → select date range → Export
Includes: deposit time, coin, amount, network, transaction hash, status
Withdrawal History
Web → Wallet → Withdrawal History → select date range → Export
Includes: withdrawal time, coin, amount, fee, destination address, network, transaction hash, status
P2P Trade History
Web → Buy Crypto → P2P Trading → Orders → view historical P2P trades
P2P records include: time, side, fiat amount, crypto quantity, unit price, merchant information
Futures Trade History
If you have futures trades, go to Orders → Futures Orders → Trade History to view and export.
How to Organize Your Records
Using Excel
After exporting the CSV file, open it in Excel:
- Sort by date
- Filter for specific trading pairs (e.g., BTC/USDT only)
- Calculate P&L for each trade
- Summarize total investment and total returns
P&L Calculation Methods
Simple calculation:
- Total sell proceeds - Total buy expenditure - Total fees = Net P&L
Weighted average cost method:
- Calculate the weighted average buy price with each purchase
- When selling, subtract the weighted average cost from the sell price to compute profit
Export Regularly
Export your records monthly or quarterly. Do not wait a year before remembering to export — if there are data issues by then, troubleshooting will be much harder.
Binance Tax Report Tool
Binance provides a "Tax Report" feature that generates a comprehensive summary for a specific period.
How to Use
Web → Wallet → Tax Report → select date range → Generate Report
This report aggregates all your trading activity, including spot trades, futures trades, Earn income, deposits, withdrawals, and more, in a format suitable for tax calculations.
Notes
- Report generation may take a few minutes
- Reports use UTC time — account for your timezone
- If you use multiple exchanges, you will need to export from each and merge the data
API Access for Trading Records
If you have programming skills, you can also retrieve trading records through the Binance API. The API provides more detailed data than web exports and can be automated.
However, this is an advanced approach. For most users, the web export is more than sufficient.
Data Security Reminder
Exported trading records contain your trade details and asset information. Please note:
- Store exported files in a secure location — not on public devices
- Do not send trading records to untrusted parties
- If sharing with third parties (such as a tax advisor), verify their trustworthiness
- Back up regularly to prevent data loss
